Umi Super 4G Phablet has created a buzz on the Internet ever since it surfaced. Frankly speaking, the eye-catching Super Umi needs your attention. We are dealing with a good looking smartphone with top features and an affordable price.
Umi Super 4G Phablet is a very successful smartphone and you can see that the manufacturer has put a lot of work into it. This smartphone aims to impress the user right from the first contact with retail package. Most Chinese producers deliver their smartphones in ordinary cardboard boxes, but Umi preferred good quality plastic with a nice finish. Now, that’s above average and it is quite pleasant to the eye. Inside the package we find the actual device, the USB cable – USB Type-C, the 1.25A charger and the manual. There are no 3.5mm headphones.
Umi Super 4G Phablet is certainly one of the most beautiful handsets priced under 200 dollars. It is a smartphone with a unibody construction having 90% metal and 10% polycarbonate. I was truly surprised by the combination of curved glass and the rest of the phone. The transition between the glass and the body is smooth, barely perceptible. There are also things that I don’t like that much: the volume keys seem a bit noisy when I push them and the smartphone seems a bit heavy in everyday usage. It weights 185 grams. That’s somewhere understandable, since we are talking about a 5.5 inch smartphone with a mostly metal construction.
Umi Super 4G Phablet features a 5 megapixel selfie camera with proximity light sensor and a 13 megapixels secondary camera, dual-LED flash and fingerprint scanner. On the left side we find the combo slot for microSIM and microSD and the shortcut button. On the right side we find the volume keys and power button, in the upper side we find the 3.5 mm jack, on the base side there are two grids with aesthetic role (since the speaker is hidden behind the right) and a USB Type-C port.
Another thing that I loved about Umi Super 4G Phablet is the 5.5 inch Sharp display with LTPS technology (low-temperature polycrystalline silicon). It has a FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) with a 401 ppi pixel density and 2.5D curved glass protected with Corning Gorilla 3. The glass display quality is above average, with high brightness, sharpness, vivid colors and wide viewing angles.
Umi Super 4G Phablet features hardware that’s powerful enough to endure everything that currently availabe in Google Play, but not enough to play all the video games in high quality. Under the hood we find the MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, the ARM Mali-T860 GPU, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 32 GB of storage and the combo slot (2 x microSIM or 1 x microSIM + 1 x microSD up to 256 GB). The actual internal memory has 24.69 GB and should be just enough for most users.
I must admit that UMI has done an excellent job with Umi Super’s software since it runs flawlessly for a Chinese device. Super Umi runs a customized version of Android 6.0 that’s moving unexpectedly well. Also, the 4000 mAh battery should give you enough juice to last a full day of usage.
As a brief recap, Super Umi is almost perfect for its price range and if you are brave enough to buy a Chinese product, this should be the one to try out.
