How to install Netis WF2111 driver on Linux Ubuntu
So, the story is short. I bought a Netis WF2111 wireless adapter for my Linux computer. When I’ve tried to plug it in, the Linux froze and I had to restart the system. In other words, using the default Linux driver for Netis WF2111 was not a good idea, mainly because the system became unusable. After searching the Internet for a solution, I found a gifthub page that contained a fix to the problem. Following the steps presented there, I managed to install the correct drivers and use the wireless adapter properly. The adapter’s chipset is rt8192cu, so we have to install drivers for that.
This is the easy route to install Realtek driver for 8192cu / 8188cu devices:
sudo apt-get install git build-essential linux-headers-generic dkms
git clone https://github.com/dz0ny/rt8192cu.git –depth 1
sudo make dkms
Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee that this fix works for any Linux distro out there. I have tried it on Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS. Let me know if it works for you in the comment section below.
